Hello and happy new year!
The past few years I found myself asking Santa to bring me “adult” gifts for the holiday. Two years ago I asked for a crock pot – which I was so scared to use at first, but have become somewhat obsessed with this year. There is nothing better than getting home from work and having a delicious dinner waiting for you to eat! I made this recipe earlier this week and highly recommend it.
This year, I asked for a sewing machine. I ’d been thinking about teaching myself a new skill and figured that sewing would be a useful thing to know in life. 2013 was the year of learning to crochet, so 2014 will be a sewing year!
I was a little intimidated when I unpacked my machine – there are so many knobs and buttons! But, the user manual is fantastic with lots of pictures and diagrams to walk me through the basic beginner steps. This past weekend I successfully wound my first bobbin…
…and sewed a straight line. I know, I’m so advanced.
I definitely have a long way to go before I can make anything useful, but with a little help from YouTube and inspiration from some sewing blogs, I know I’ll get there soon! My goal is to successfully make an infinity scarf; I’ve read that it’s a great beginner’s project. And if there are some slight imperfections, they say it’s easy to disguise them while wearing the garment.
What goals have you set for 2014? Do you sew? If so, send some tips my way (email@example.com)! I need all the help I can get!
